Gallerij Kunstwerckx
In Afrikaans, "kunst" means art and "werk" means work.
In my family tree, I noticed that I had a relative with the surname Steenwerckx, which translates to brick & work, "steen" meaning brick, the "ckx" ending is from old Dutch and this is how I came about naming this website Gallerij Kunstwerckx.

These paintings are from past animations, rumination and procrastination.
I tried to find feeling into each, with particular emphasis on composition, rhythm and colour.

I hope to start doing more of these again.

It's been a while.

Right now it feels as though I have nothing to say,  nothing to express  -  and I don't mind this, I really don't, I find it refreshing.

I would love to exhibit some day.

I have always preferred the work of first year students, these are fresh, and full of mistakes, compared to the more rigid sterile work of final-year students, I love mistakes.

The beginner is uninhibited, filled with experimentation, with the absence of pressure to conform to academic or commercial expectations.
Pablo Picasso famously stated, "All children are born artists. The problem is to remain an artist as we grow up". He believed children possess a natural, uninhibited creativity that is often lost to social conditioning and fear of judgment in adulthood.

I hope you enjoy my visual painting diary.

November 2025.
